Honeyblood share the scorching title track from their eagerly anticipated new album Babes Never Die.
Hot on the heels of the release of their comeback single Ready For The Magic and punky follow-up Sea Hearts, the Glasgow duo of Stina Tweeddale and Cat Myers have now revealed the title track from their forthcoming album Babes Never Die (out 4 November on Fat Cat Records). It will already be familiar to fans that have seen them on tour over the past year, having become a live favourite.
From the first chord, it’s a blazing anthem that deftly captures the development of their distinctive lo-fi garage rock sound – which was a feature of their debut record – and the raw energy of their live performance. Tweeddale’s distinctive voice – a perfect mix of snarl and purr – matches the spiky guitars, smouldering and swooning backing vocals and Myer’s crashing drums.
Tweeddale describes Babes Never Die as the foundation of the new album: “It was the starting point, the first track written. It’s a song about not dying.” The title is a motto that comes from somewhere close to her heart, literally. “I have those words tattooed on my ribs…I guess you could call it a war cry; to have the faith to never let yourself be defeated.” The ridiculously catchy chorus – “You can watch my fire burn bright, ‘cause babes never die” – will ensure that those words are shouted back to her from captivated audiences all over the UK as the pair continue their UK tour (see their forthcoming UK tour dates below).
With three acclaimed singles from the new album now released and tour dates selling out, Honeyblood’s fire is burning brighter than ever.
